Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgewood Academy). They came out on top against the Bessemer Academy Rebels by a score of 85-76 on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Rebels are ranked 55th).

When it comes to explaining why Bessemer Academy lost, don't look at Joshua Thompson. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 15 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Brister, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Edgewood Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Bessemer Academy, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-2.

Edgewood Academy will host Fort Dale Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bessemer Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-31 victory against Restoration Academy on the 3rd.
