Baseball Recap: Lake Braddock Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mount Vernon

With a playoff win on the line, Lake Braddock rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Mount Vernon Majors. Considering the Bruins have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lake Braddock got a great performance from Leo Dell'Omo as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Dell'Omo posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Henry Mahns was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Gibson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Lake Braddock is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Vernon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.

Coming up, Lake Braddock will square off against West Springfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. Mount Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
