The West End Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Fyffe Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West End will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Fyffe is ranked 114th).
Last Friday, West End suffered a rough 48-28 loss at the hands of Glencoe. West End has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, West End had strong showings from Rocko Sainsbury, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown, and Triston Chaney, who picked up 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Fyffe came tearing into Thursday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Sylvania by a score of 21-10.
West End's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Fyffe, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
West End took a serious blow against Fyffe in their previous meeting back in October of 2015, falling 62-3. Can West End avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
