3A Narrows recap Oct. 23, 2012
Timberline scored a stunning upset when it knocked off North Thurston, 24-0. At the time, the Rams were ranked 20th in the state, while the Blazers were 28th.
Timberline extended the longest winning streak in 3A Narrows this week by beating North Thurston, 24-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Lincoln's dynamic duo of J'Maka Love and Joshua Eckwood proved tough for Wilson to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Love threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns and Eckwood had 83 yards receiving. Kashawn Johnson helped Lincoln's passing attack out by catching three balls for 50 yards.
Ralph Kinne was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 218 yards as Shelton bested the Rams. Teammate DeShon Bell added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
Dehonta Hayes made the biggest impact on defense this week as Lincoln defeated Wilson. The 5-foot-11 defensive back pulled down two interceptions and recorded one fumble.
Jon Kitna's team's Love and Eckwood have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Love has thrown for 1559 yards this season, while Eckwood, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 47 catches for 792 yards. The High Climbers' Kinne leads the league in rushing yards with 2112.
Two of the top units in 3A Narrows will face off this week when Shelton takes on the Blazers. Matt Hinkle's team's offense has recorded 321 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Timberline has permitted only 107 on the year.
The Blazers were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Rocky Patchin's team. Timberline came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
