Loren Cheatham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sam Figueroa was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Soltysiak, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Seabreeze ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Matanzas, sneaking past 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Sandcrabs in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.
Seabreeze also got a great performance from Brody Harris as he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.
At the plate, Seabreeze let Wrigley Zweifel and Jacob McKinnon run wild. Zweifel scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while McKinnon went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Seabreeze hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Matanzas struck out ten times.
Pine Ridge pushed their record up to 9-3-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Seabreeze, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pine Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seabreeze struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
