The Nipmuc Regional Warriors will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Northbridge Rams at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nipmuc Regional is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Nipmuc Regional managed to keep up with Dover-Sherborn until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Nipmuc Regional ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-50 walloping at the hands of Dover-Sherborn. Nipmuc Regional has not had much luck with Dover-Sherborn recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was James McKinney, who scored 15 points. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Kelly, who scored 12 points.
Northbridge can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-53 victory over Auburn. The victory was just what Northbridge needed coming off of a 63-31 loss in their prior matchup.
Nipmuc Regional's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Northbridge, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.
Nipmuc Regional was able to grind out a solid victory over Northbridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 54-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nipmuc Regional since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
