The Alden Bulldogs will take on the City Honors Centaurs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Alden's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while City Honors has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Alden barely beat Griffith Institute the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Griffins with a sharp 11-2 win on Wednesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lilly Bromstead made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Bromstead was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Alden let Brooklyn Jankowski and Claire Shadle run wild. Jankowski went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double, while Shadle went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave Shadle a new career-high. Ashley Eberth was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Alden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Griffith Institute only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, City Honors had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 16-1 to Kenmore West on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
City Honors saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Willis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Alden's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for City Honors, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Alden's way against City Honors when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Alden made off with a 13-1 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Centaurs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
