After a string of three wins, the Cyprus Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were beaten by Copper Hills 74-31. Cyprus has struggled against Copper Hills recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Cyprus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tamila Francis, who scored nine points along with four steals. Francis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Emilee Anderson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Copper Hills was led to victory by Skylie Barker and Ellie Taylor. Barker scored 16 points along with five assists and four blocks, while Taylor scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aspen Fraser, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Cyprus bumped their record down to 6-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Copper Hills, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cyprus will take on West Jordan at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. West Jordan is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Copper Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fremont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
