It was a good run, but the Patriot Prep Academy Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. The contest between Patriot Prep Academy and Horizon Science Academy wasn't particularly close, with Patriot Prep Academy falling 62-43. Patriot Prep Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Horizon Science Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Patriot Prep Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Sammons, who scored seven points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Sammons hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Cameron Thomas was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Among those leading the charge was Khiryn Mcneal, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Roland Kargbo, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.
Patriot Prep Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Horizon Science Academy, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Patriot Prep Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against KIPP Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Horizon Science Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Grove City Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grove City Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
