On Saturday, Christopher opened the new year with a less-than-successful 53-42 defeat to Altamont. While losing is never fun, Christopher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Altamont is ranked 99th).
Despite the loss, Christopher still got an impressive performance from Amiah Hargrove, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Hargrove's 18th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Londynn Pontious, who scored five points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Christopher's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Altamont, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.
Christopher will be playing in front of their home fans against DuQuoin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. DuQuoin is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Altamont, they will head out on the road to face off against Marshall at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
