The Rensselaer Central Bombers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Lafayette Central Catholic 63-39. Considering Rensselaer Central has won 13 matches by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Rensselaer Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carly Drone led the charge by scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Drone pulled down eight or more rebounds. Sarah Kaufman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Rensselaer Central's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Coincidentally, Rensselaer Central and Lafayette Central Catholic will both be playing West Lafayette the next time they take the court. Lafayette Central Catholic will host West Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Rensselaer Central will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
