Flambeau dropped down to 11-5 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 9-2 to the Luck/Frederic Otters. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.
KENNA FRAFJORD spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Flambeau saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was VANESSA VERDEGAN, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. VERDEGAN is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
As for Luck/Frederic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.3 runs.
On Luck/Frederic's side, Marissa Owens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). Owens was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kenna Chenal was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Lily Carter was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Flambeau didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-11 loss against Turtle Lake/Clayton on the 9th. As for Luck/Frederic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-6 victory against Ladysmith on the 9th.
