Meanwhile, Spring Mills faced Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Patriots, falling 6-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.
Spring Mills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Wetzel, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Martinsburg's win ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Spring Mills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Martinsburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Spring Mills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
