The Morrison Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bureau Valley Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Morrison blew past Riverdale, posting a 51-6 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Morrison, who have now won five matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Bureau Valley was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Aurora Central Catholic 67-19 at home. With Bureau Valley ahead 40-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Bureau Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Lemons led the charge by rushing for 165 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Lemons was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Endress, who rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped Morrison to 7-1 and Bureau Valley to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Morrison against Bureau Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2019 as the team secured a 42-0 victory. Will Morrison repeat their success, or does Bureau Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
