Scott Dobrinski and Chance Bedwell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Fairview. The connection was good for 78 yards, the longest such play in A District 1 this season.
Beaver's Ryan Nash rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Texhoma last week. Nash's team lost to the Red Devils as he sprinted for 72 yards on the play and finished with 137 in all.
Grant Nightengale and Grant Nightengale gave the Yellowjackets a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Nightengale threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns, while Nightengale ran for 151 yards. Joel Kliewer also contributed to the rushing game with 56 yards on the ground.
Ross Smith made the biggest impact on defense this week as Fairview beat Okeene. The 6-foot-1 senior racked up 1.5 sacks.
Bedwell was the best wideout in the league this week as the Whippets fell to Chris Cayot's team. Bedwell racked up four receptions for 99 yards. Hunter Miles helped Okeene's passing attack out by catching three balls for 59 yards.
The Yellowjackets' Nightengale and Michael Christopher have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A District 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Nightengale has thrown for 1047 yards this season, while Christopher, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 22 catches for 225 yards. Nate White from Community Christian leads the league in rushing with 388 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Fairview takes on Turpin. The Yellowjackets' offense has racked up 178 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Cardinals have allowed only 201 on the year.
Okeene was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, Jeff Wardlaw's team triumphed over Jeff Wardlaw's team 49-6.
