Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rockwell will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
After soaring to a 20-point win in their last game, Rockwell came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of Milford by a score of 41-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Rockwell has suffered yet this season.
Merit Preparatory Academy posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 56-14 victory over Freedom Prep Academy on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-6.
Lizbeth Diaz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with nine steals. That's the first time this season that she grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Moody, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Rockwell's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season.
Rockwell didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Merit Preparatory Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 36-32 win. Will Rockwell repeat their success, or does Merit Preparatory Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
