After flying high against the Elba Bluejays on Tuesday, the Hampton Hawks came back down to earth. Hampton fell 47-40 to East Butler on Friday. Hampton lost against East Butler in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 57-33 score last time.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wyatt Dose, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was Dose's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Dose, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Hampton's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for East Butler, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton will be home for the holidays to greet Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Butler won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sterling on December 16th. Sterling is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
