After a string of four wins, the Buckeye Local Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 58-41 bruising from Indian Creek. While losing is never fun, Buckeye Local can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Indian Creek is ranked 112th).
Brynn McKeever and Pamela Kandrach certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. McKeever scored 15 points, while Kandrach dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Kandrach hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for 19 straight games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Indian Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than McKenna Scott, who scored 19 points along with seven assists and five steals. Scott hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Kaydence Walker was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Buckeye Local's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Indian Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye Local will challenge Shenandoah at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Shenandoah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Indian Creek, they will head out on the road to take on John Marshall at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Indian Creek is coming into the game with nine straight wins on the road, meaning John Marshall will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
