The St. Albans Red Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Parkersburg Big Reds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
St. Albans came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Winfield with points to spare, taking the game 57-39. That's two games straight that St. Albans has won by exactly 18 points.
Meanwhile, Parkersburg stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Riverside at home to the tune of 83-37. Given Parkersburg's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Riverside is ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Albans has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Parkersburg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-4.
St. Albans beat Parkersburg 69-61 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Albans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
