The Basha Bears waltzed into Friday's contest with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 38-27 win over Perry. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Basha also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
It was another big night for Demond Williams Jr., who threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Gio Richardson, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Perry still got an impressive performance from Don Tinsley, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
Basha's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Brophy College Prep and 8-2 Chandler (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.3% over those games). As for Perry, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Basha will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on American Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (American Leadership Academy is ranked eighth, while Basha is ranked fourth). As for Perry, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m.
