Chavez is 0-10 against Westside since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chavez Lobos will head out on the road to square off against the Westside Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Chavez will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1475th, while Westside is ranked 300th).
Chavez suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Bellaire at home and fell 79-19. Chavez was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-12.
Meanwhile, Westside can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 64-14 win over Houston Math Science & Tech at home. The win was nothing new for Westside as they're now sitting on six straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Te?lynn Lee-rose, who scored 12 points along with four steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakaila Matlock, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Westside, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Chavez took a serious blow against Westside when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 81-7. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Chavez was down 55-5.
