The Marshall Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell 49-38 to Fulton. Marshall was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fulton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Marshall's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katarina Simic, who scored 14 points. Brooklynn Davenport was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Marshall has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Fulton, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will face off against Hannibal at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fulton, they will square off against Kirksville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Missouri (Kirksville is ranked 278th, while Fulton is ranked 269th).
