The Westland Cougars were the 49-46 winner over the Linden-McKinley Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. Westland took a 29-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Linden-McKinley. Westland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Westland still got an impressive performance from Hayleigh Thompson, who scored 10 points. Thompson scored a full 40% of Westland's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Linden-McKinley found their leader in underclassman Christiana Towns, who scored 16 points. Dennie Houston - Williams was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Westland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Linden-McKinley, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westland will take on Open Door Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Linden-McKinley, they will be playing at home against Fairfield Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
