Mount Notre Dame will challenge the Kings Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mount Notre Dame 4, Kings 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mount Notre Dame is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Centerville just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Monday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elks.
Grace Pitzer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie Robinson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Kings rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their 26th in a row.
Kings also got a great performance from Neely McElhaney as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. McElhaney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexis Fera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Titler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Kings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edgewood only posted an OBP of .118.
Kings' victory bumped their record up to 26-1. As for Mount Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.
Mount Notre Dame couldn't quite get it done against Kings when the teams last played back in April as they fell 10-6. Can Mount Notre Dame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
