The Cathedral Fighting Irish and the Lawrence North Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Cathedral Fighting Irish had to settle for second. They took a serious blow against the Wildcats, falling 76-34. Cathedral has struggled against the Wildcats recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Cathedral lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taylor Lewis. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 38.2% of Cathedral's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Beasley, who scored seven points.
It was another big night for Jamaya Thomas, who scored 18 points for Lawrence North. Kamara Mills was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Lawrence North, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-5.
Cathedral does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lawrence North will square off against the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lawrence Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
