Basketball Recap: Goose Creek Memorial Comes Up Short

Goose Creek Memorial lost against Nimitz back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Goose Creek Memorial Patriots took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nimitz Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 685th, while the Cougars are ranked 308th).

When it comes to explaining why Goose Creek Memorial lost, don't look at Carinne Bouie. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Bouie has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Sofia Bowie was another key player, putting up six points.

Nimitz's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Williams, who posted 13 points along with five assists and five boards. Aniah Richard was another key player, posting 13 points and six assists.

Goose Creek Memorial has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Nimitz, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Goose Creek Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-41 win against Kingwood on the 10th. As for Nimitz, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-22 victory against MacArthur on the 10th.
