Basketball Game Preview: Brunswick Pirates vs. Camden County Wildcats

The Brunswick Pirates will take on the Camden County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Brunswick is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Bradwell Institute just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 61-44 fall against the Tigers.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Reagan Hicks, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Martin Davis, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 21 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Camden County hadn't done well against Tift County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Camden County skirted past Tift County 50-47.

Camden County's win came from a few key players Brunswick will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was J'Mya Albertie, who put up ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tytionna Scott, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Camden County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Brunswick, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.

Everything came up roses for Brunswick against Camden County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as the team secured a 67-33 win. In that match, Brunswick amassed a halftime lead of 34-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
