Jordan Hammond was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Hammond wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cy Hill, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Snake River can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over American Falls. The Panthers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024.
Like South Fremont, Snake River also got a great game from a two-way player: Levi Gillins. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Gillins also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Snake River is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-10 otherwise. Gillins was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Snake River got a massive performance out of Justin Wray, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The Panthers are undefeated when Wray posts two or more runs, but 0-10 otherwise. Dawson Jorgensen was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Snake River picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-10. As for South Fremont, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 7-11.
South Fremont skirted past Snake River 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
