Hopewell didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Matoaca to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The team can thank Monroe for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hopewell wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 50%.
Hopewell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Larry Burgess, Luke Kuhns, and Daveon Pope picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Thomas Dale was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Petersburg 34-6. Considering the Knights have won five matchups by more than 20 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Thomas Dale found their leader in sophomore Wyatt Jessup, who threw for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
The win made it two in a row for Thomas Dale and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Hopewell, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Hopewell beat Thomas Dale 21-14 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Knights' Jaiden Hite, who rushed for 183 yards and one score while picking up 9.6 yards per carry.
