Baseball Recap: North Valleys Gets the Win

North Valleys hadn't beaten Truckee on the road since April 1, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 11th.

Austin Dozier made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Brooks Anderline was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Evan Birch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

North Valleys kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

North Valleys has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Truckee, they moved to 8-6 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Valleys will challenge Wooster at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colts have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Truckee, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hug at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
