Southwestern recap October 29, 2013
Brecksville-Broadview Heights extended the longest winning streak in Southwestern this week by beating Berea-Midpark, 27-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Westlake moved up to 323 from 360 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Demons climbed the ranks as a result of topping Steele 28-0.
The Comets' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick DeJesus threw for 44 yards and Cooper Cotterill had 44 yards receiving. On the ground Donte Dower chipped in 30 yards. Derek Eibon helped Steele's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.
Steele's dynamic duo of DeJesus and Cotterill proved tough for Westlake to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Eibon helped Steele's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.
Steele's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Comets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Anthony Eliopoulos has thrown for 546 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Joe D'Andrea has 32 catches for 330 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Brecksville-Broadview Heights takes on Mark Campo's team. Jason Black's team is in first place, while the Demons are in fourth place.
Avon Lake and North Olmsted played the closest game in Southwestern this week, with Avon Lake eventually emerging with a 23-20 victory.
