The West-Oak Warriors will square off against the Daniel Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West-Oak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Two weeks ago, West-Oak made easy work of Walhalla and carried off a 9-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Abi Blackwell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cassie Stoltzfus was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Kylie Perkins was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Daniel narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Greer 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won three in a row.
Like West-Oak, Daniel also got a great game from a two-way player: Addy Fraser. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave Fraser a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Lucy Maxon was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Maria Bowers, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Daniel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
West-Oak's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Daniel, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West-Oak hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Daniel struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West-Oak came up short against Daniel in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 15-10. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
