The Union Knights/Damsels will head out on the road to face off against the Redbank Valley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Union is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Even though Union has not done well against Keystone recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Union walked away with a 41-32 win over Keystone.
It was another big night for Hayden Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Union's points. Trey Fleming was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Redbank Valley came tearing into last Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Johnsonburg with a sharp 71-45 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Redbank Valley has posted yet this season.
Redbank Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kieran Fricko, who scored 19 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Owen Clouse, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Union has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Redbank Valley's record now sits at 9-1.
Union ended up a good deal behind Redbank Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, losing 57-42. Can Union avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
