Softball Recap: Antwerp's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Antwerp posted their closest win since April 8th on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wayne Trace Raiders 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Archers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Elle Clem made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Clem wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Rohrs, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Antwerp's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 8-10. As for Wayne Trace, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antwerp will head out to face off against Hilltop at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayne Trace, they will venture away from home to square off against Wauseon at 5:00 p.m. on the 8th.
