Chicago Academy extended their losing streak  to five  on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They took  an  8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mather Rangers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
 Chicago Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Peter Borunda, who  went 1-for-3 with one  double and one  RBI.
As for Mather,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 8-9. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6  runs in those games.
On Mather's side,  Jeriel Mejias and  Roy Beard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Mejias   didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile,  Beard   struck out six batters over  2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Mather's success: when he allows at  most one  earned run the team is 2-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). At bat,  Mejias  went 3-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI, while  Beard  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double. That's the most  hits  Mejias has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Aaron Roman, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  stolen bases  he has posted since back in May of 2024.  Lucas Lambert was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base.
 Coming up, Chicago Academy will challenge Lake View at 7:15  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Mather, they will face off against Westinghouse at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Rangers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on  an  eight-game losing streak.
