A feisty cat fight will be fought as Fossil Ridge Panthers face off against Aledo Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Fossil Ridge earned a 10-5 win over Brewer.
Sam Francis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Callie Mauppin was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Aledo waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Rangers 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.
LILY HECKATHORN looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.
On the hitting side, Aledo let BRELEIGH MAYER and MARINA TAVERAS run wild. MAYER went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while TAVERAS scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That double marked the first that MAYER hit this season. Another player making a difference was JORDYN EDINGTON, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Aledo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Fossil Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. Aledo pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fossil Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Aledo struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fossil Ridge might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Aledo in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Will Fossil Ridge have more luck at home instead of on the road?
