On Friday, Chadron took a serious blow against Ashland-Greenwood, falling 53-14. Chadron was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-0.
Despite the loss, Chadron still got an impressive performance from Quinn Bailey, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Bailey was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.
Ashland-Greenwood was led to victory by Dane Jacobsen and Drake Zimmerman. Jacobsen threw for 156 yards and four touchdowns, while Zimmerman rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Zimmerman hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games. Cael Smith was another key contributor, rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown.
Chadron's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Ashland-Greenwood, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Chadron does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ashland-Greenwood will take on Adams Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Adams Central is ranked 20th, while Ashland-Greenwood is ranked sixth).
