It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tiftarea Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-27 margin over St. Andrew's. Tiftarea Academy didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
It was another big night for John Robert Walker, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 175 yards and four touchdowns on only seven passes. Kaiden Richardson also helped out as he racked up 111 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, John Milledge Academy put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Tattnall Square Academy with a sharp 45-21 win. The result was nothing new for John Milledge Academy, who have now won seven games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Javian Butts was his usual excellent self, rushing for 185 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 62 receiving yards. Butts is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Jalen Butts did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 99 receiving yards.
John Milledge Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. In that department, Isaiah Womble was the leader with three sacks.
Tiftarea Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-7-1. As for John Milledge Academy, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 10-0 record.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Tiftarea Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like John Milledge Academy struggles in that department as they've been even better at 287 per game.
