3A District 2 recap November 5, 2013
Johnnie Taylor of Trinity Catholic ran for the longest rushing play in 3A District 2 this season against Father Lopez last week. Taylor scampered for 91 yards on the play and finished with 220 on the day as his team defeated the Green Wave.
Maclay and P.K. Yonge played the most contested game in the league this week, with Maclay eventually emerging with a 40-34 victory.
Trinity Catholic's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Reid Carlton threw for 306 and 4 touchdowns and Max Linder had 107 yards receiving. On the ground Taylor chipped in 220 yards. London Gaskin helped Trinity Catholic's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 93 yards.
Taylor was a beast in the backfield as John Brantley's team topped Father Lopez.
Kevin Kelly made the biggest impact on defense this week as Jason Dunlap's team fell to the Celtics. He recorded 2 fumbles.
Taylor was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Darrien McNair added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.
Trinity Catholic's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Celtics feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carlton has thrown for 1,650 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Gaskin has 18 catches for 458 yards.
In 103 carries Taylor has accumulated 976 yard this year.
Trinity Catholic took down the Green Wave 54-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Carlton during the win.
