Chatham Charter extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-5. They put the hurt on the Cornerstone Charter Academy Cardinals with a sharp 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kynzie Jordan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Hussey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Mollie Oldham was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Chatham Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .576 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Cornerstone Charter Academy's side, Olivia Lowman and Evelyn Croatt did some serious damage despite the final result: Lowman went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Croatt went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Coming up, Chatham Charter will challenge River Mill Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they have already played their next game, an 18-3 victory against The North Carolina Leadership Academy on the 10th.
