The Florida Christian Patriots pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to TERRA Environmental 69-63. It was the first time this season that Florida Christian let down their fans at home.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kohl Rosario, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Rosario has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 13 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Rangel, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
TERRA Environmental's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Del Rio, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Del Rio hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Nick Merlo was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds.
Florida Christian's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for TERRA Environmental, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Florida Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Dade Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dade Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for TERRA Environmental, TERRA Environmental and Homestead will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Averaging 68.2 so far this season, Homestead's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so TERRA Environmental better be ready for a challenge.
