Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for East Dubuque

East Dubuque had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Warren/Stockton Warhawks. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Curin Oberman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Liliana Alvarado and Hannah Heitkamp did most of the damage at the plate: Alvarado went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Heitkamp went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Alvarado has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Welp, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

East Dubuque was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

East Dubuque's record is now 8-6. As for Warren/Stockton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

East Dubuque will challenge River Ridge/Scales Mound at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.95 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Warren/Stockton, they will square off against Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
