Discovery was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight  loss  dating back to last season. They lost  55-30 to the Lake Placid Dragons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the  41-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in September of 2024.
Despite the loss, Discovery still got an impressive performance from   Trey Wilbanks, who picked up 97 receiving yards and one  score. Wilbanks got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 55 yards.  Jyrine Hazelton also helped with three touchdowns in total.
 Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of  Hazelton, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from  him.
 Lake Placid found their leader in sophomore  Damarcus Brown, who rushed for 231 yards and three  TDs while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of  August Stivender, who threw for 106 yards and one  touchdown on only six passes.
Discovery's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Lake Placid,  the  victory  got them back to even at 1-1.
 Discovery wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  matchup,  a  50-22  defeat against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic on the 12th. As for Lake Placid, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  9-6  win against Tenoroc on the 12th.
