Tom Bean and Honey Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Tom Bean Tomcats will head out on the road to square off against the Honey Grove Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Tom Bean sitting on three straight victories and Honey Grove on nine.
Even though Tom Bean has not done well against Wolfe City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Tom Bean came out on top against Wolfe City by a score of 48-36.
Tom Bean found their leader in underclassman Maguire Poole, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Branson Ashlock, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Honey Grove made off with a 44-43 victory over Sam Rayburn.
Tom Bean is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. As for Honey Grove, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-4.
Tom Bean suffered a grim 63-41 defeat to Honey Grove in their previous matchup back in January. Can Tom Bean avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
