This season hasn't been kind to the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They fell 43-36 to Lake Havasu on Thursday. La Joya Community was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake Havasu apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Lexi Tuinstra was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 27 points along with five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Lake Havasu's points.
La Joya Community's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Lake Havasu, their victory ended a 17-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-11.
La Joya Community will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Verrado at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Lake Havasu, they will play host again and welcome Canyon View, where tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Canyon View is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
