Rio Hondo recap Sept. 26, 2012
South Pasadena moved up to 552 from 758 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Rio Hondo. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of a 24-10 win over Alhambra.
San Marino extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Beverly Hills, 45-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Monrovia's dynamic duo of Blake Heyworth and Mason Bryant proved tough for South Hills to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Heyworth threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns and Bryant had 124 yards receiving. Anthony Craft helped Monrovia's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 90 yards.
Andy Paynter was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 107 yards as La Canada fell to the Huskies. Teammate Jadon Henry added to the ground attack by rushing for seven yards.
Monrovia's Heyworth and Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Rio Hondo in both passing and receiving yards. Heyworth has thrown for 843 yards this season, while Bryant has 23 catches for 413 yards. Paynter from the Spartans leads the league in rushing with 360 yards.
San Marino took down the Normans 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
