After flying high against Milledgeville Prep last Thursday, St. George came back down to earth. St. George's ended up on the wrong side of a tough 53-32 walloping at the hands of the Cougars on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. George's of the 64-38 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.
Leading Piedmont Academy to victory were Corbett Crews and Chase Taylor. Crews almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 18 rebounds, while Taylor scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Crews has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Camden Moss, who scored eight points.
St. George's has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Piedmont Academy, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-18.
St. George's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. John Hancock Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Piedmont Academy will take on the War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
