Omaha Central came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Lincoln Northeast by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 19, 2025.
Boe Di Lorenzo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Omaha Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Neujahr, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Skutt Catholic faced Elkhorn North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The SkyHawks came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 5-1.
Easton Elam spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cooper Smith was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
Skutt Catholic's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Omaha Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
