Tulare Union extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 8-2. They blew past the Tulare Western Mustangs 55-33. Considering the Tribe have won six contests by more than 21 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tulare Union's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Crisp led the charge by throwing for 351 yards and six touchdowns while completing 82.8% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score. That's the most passing touchdowns Crisp has posted since back in October of 2024. Tulare Union's leading receiver Demaje Riley was Crisp's top target yet again, picking up 196 receiving yards and four scores.
Tulare Union didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Tulare Western to a completion percentage of just 43.5%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Riley, Julius Padron, and Kamile Stevenson, who each logged two passes deflected. Given Crisp's standout performance, it's clear Tulare Western's secondary just wasn't on the same level.
Tulare Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Riley and Padron. Riley's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 131 receiving yards. Tulare Union got some further help from Nathan Cordova: he picked up two sacks, made five total tackles, and defended one pass.
As for Tulare Western, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Tulare Union is ranked 78th).
Tulare Western's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Seechan, who rushed for 140 yards and a pair of TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Domanik Martinez, who picked up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
As of now, neither Tulare Union nor Tulare Western have any future games scheduled.
