On Monday, Richmond Heights strolled past Firestone with points to spare, taking the game 51-32. Given Richmond Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Firestone is ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Firestone lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kiara Smith, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Brittiana McCall, who scored eight points.
Richmond Heights' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-3. As for Firestone, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond Heights will take on Chagrin Falls at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Chagrin Falls is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Firestone, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Northwest at 2:15 p.m. on February 3rd.
